Varicose veins

A disorder in which the veins enlarge because of the malfunction of their valves occuring improper flow of blood and pooling as a outcome. Varicose veins are a normal condition occurred by weak and damaged vein walls and valves. Varicose veins can occur whenever blood pressure expands inside the person's veins. This can happen due to pregnancy, constipation or acidity, a tumor, or being overweight and obesity.

What is Varicose veins?

Varicose veins are twisted and enlarged veins. Any superficial vein can become varicose, but the veins most usually damaged are those in the person’s legs. That’s due to standing and walking upright expands the pressure in the veins of the individual’s lower body.

For many people, varicose veins and spider veins are a common and mild kind of varicose veins which are commonly a cosmetic concern. For some people, varicose veins can form aching pain and discomfort. Sometimes varicose veins impact more-serious disorders. Treatment can include self-care measures and treatments by your doctor to off and remove veins.

Symptoms

Varicose veins can not lead to any pain. Signs a person may have varicose veins include:

  • Veins convert to dark purple or blue in color.
  • Veins can appear as twisted and bulging; they are often the same as cords on your legs.

When painful signs and symptoms cause, they may include:

  • An achy and hard feeling in your legs.
  • Burning/ throbbing/ muscle cramping/ swelling in your lower legs.
  • Worsened pain during sitting and standing for a long period.
  • Itching around one and more of your veins.
  • Skin discoloration over a varicose vein.

Causes

Weak and damaged valves can impact varicose veins. Arteries take blood from a person’s heart to the rest of their tissues, and veins pass blood from the rest of an individual’s body to his heart, so the blood can be re-circulated. To pass blood to the heart, the veins in the legs must work against gravity.

Muscle contractions in the lower legs work as pumps, and elastic vein walls help blood return to the heart. Small valves in the veins open like blood flows toward the heart then off to control blood from flowing backward. If these valves become weak and damaged, blood starts flowing backward and pools in the vein, causing the veins for stretching and twisting.

Prevention

  • Exercising
  • Checking your weight
