As per the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), there are medical advantages and risks in the procedure of circumcision.
Advantages of circumcision
The possible medical advantages of circumcision are as follow:-
- A lesser risk of HIV.
- A slightly lesser risk of any sexually transmitted diseases.
- A slightly lesser risk of urinary tract infections and penile cancer. However, both of these infections are rare to all males.
Risks of circumcision
The risks of circumcision are as follows:

- Pain. AAP recommends that providers take pain medicines for limiting the pain from the procedure of circumcision.
Circumcision could have numerous health advantages, which includes :-
- Easier hygiene. Circumcision develops it simpler for washing the penis. However, males with uncircumcised penises can be made easy to wash daily beneath the foreskin.
- Reduced the risk of urinary tract infections. The risk of urinary tract infections in males is less, but these infections are very normal in uncircumcised mens. Severe infections early in life can impact kidney problems later.
- Reduced the risk of sexually transmitted infections. Circumcised male might have a less risk of specific sexually transmitted infections, which includes HIV. Still, protect sexual practices remain important.
- Prevention of Penile Disorders.Occasionally, the foreskin on an uncircumcised penis can be hard and impossible for retracting phimosis. This can impact inflammation of the foreskin and head of the penis.
- Reduced the risk of penile cancer. Although suffering from penis cancer is rare and lower common in circumcised men. In addition, cervical cancer is also less common in the female sexual partners of circumcised men.
